Rishi Sunak has today (12/5/20) announced the extention of the Job Retention Scheme (Furlough).
The government is doing all it can to protect people who cannot work.
The scheme has been extended until the end of October, with no changes expected in the rate until the end of July.
Employers will be able to bring workers back part-time. (At the moment the scheme only subsidises workers who are not working at all.)
He also stated the government will require employers to make a contribution.
But he says employees will continue to get the same support they do now – 80% of wages.
