HMRC has warned those with less experience of the tax system to be vigilant against springtime refund scams. Last Spring HMRC received an estimated 250,000 reports of tax scams(almost 2,500 a day).  To help tackle this, HMRC requested for over 6,000 phasing websites to be deactivated.

Fraudsters often target during this period to coincide with the time legitimate rebates are being processed by HMRC.
